2026 Annual Meeting with Chris Rufo

As the University of Virginia approaches America’s 250th anniversary, alumni are asking fundamental questions about the future of Jefferson’s University: its mission, its governance, and its fidelity to the principles on which it was founded.

The Jefferson Council’s Annual Meeting will feature Chris Rufo—writer, policy leader, and one of the most influential voices in today’s national debate over higher education, institutional reform, and the role of universities in American life. Rufo will address the challenges facing elite institutions, the capture of higher education by ideological orthodoxies, and what meaningful renewal requires if universities are to remain worthy of public trust.

At this pivotal moment for both UVA and the nation, the conversation will focus on restoring intellectual diversity, accountability, and the honor-based culture central to Thomas Jefferson’s vision—while preparing the University to lead, rather than drift, in the next chapter of American history.

Join fellow alumni and friends for an evening of serious reflection, candid discussion, and recommitment to renewing the University of Virginia in light of America’s 250th year.
