UVA Leadership Collapses. The Board Does Nothing.

In the wake of President Ryan’s resignation and the prior departure of the Provost, three top leaders at UVA Health have now stepped down as well. That’s the University’s highest academic and medical leadership gone in a matter of months. Meanwhile, the Board of Visitors appears to be on summer vacation — offering no explanation as to why it has not met and begun the task of filling these vacancies.

UVA is in crisis. The silence is deafening.

Under Board policy, the Rector or any three members can call a special meeting at any time. Why haven’t they? What are they waiting for?

Each of the members of the Board has sworn an oath to serve the Commonwealth — not to serve any individual or agenda.

The Board's duty is to act. Thus far it has remained completely idle. The University Community deserves better.
