Statement on the Trashing of Thomas Jefferson by UVA’s Vice President of Student Affairs During Graduation
Charlottesville, VA – The Jefferson Council strongly condemns Kenyon Bonner’s denigration and marginalization of Thomas Jefferson during his address at UVA’s final exercises. His remarks were incongruous, unseemly, and incorrect– and perhaps more than anything, they were an example of psychological projection.
THE Cavalier Daily: All the news that Fits, We print
There is an old saying that “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” Well, there have been a number of trees falling in the UVA forest and UVA’s student newspaper of record has intentionally had its hands over its ears.
Newsworthiness does not require a finding of wrongdoing (although we believe that such finding is self-evident here) . Rather, it should require that the story be verifiable, significant, and of legitimate interest to the University community.
THE TEXTS DON’T LIE: JERI SEIDMAN MUST RESIGN
What a FOIA request text-exchange reveals about the improper faculty manipulation of student self-governance, and the leader of the Faculty Senate’s misfeasance and hypocrisy.
UVA's Faculty Senate has spent the better part of the last year delivering lectures on transparency, trust, and institutional integrity. Resolutions were passed. Statements were issued. The language was always lofty — accountability, shared governance, the independence of the University community.
UVA’s NEW Quarterly COMPLIANCE REPORT
The second quarterly compliance report from the October 22, 2025 agreement between the Department of Justice and UVA is the first certification done by President Scott Beardsley, signed on March 31, 2026. It’s worth noting what’s new and what’s not in this installment.
Setting the Record Straight on
the Presidential Search
The Cavalier Daily’s most recent op-ed critiquing the University’s presidential search process presents the same story of opacity, irregularity, and institutional dysfunction. However, such claims are either grossly overstated or just fundamentally inaccurate, and it is tiresome to see the worn-out narrative repeated over and over during the past few months.
